Mama June Shannon has qualms about her daughter Honey Boo Boo going under the knife to lose weight.
“I’m supportive if this is something Alana wants to get,” the “From Not to Hot” star told TMZ this week, “but I would say she needs to wait until she’s 18 years old.”
The “Toddlers & Tiaras” alum, whose real name is Alana Thompson, will be 17 when she plans to receive the suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve from weight loss expert Dr. Steven Batash.
Alana is expected to have the surgery, which will cost around $13,000, alongside her boyfriend Dralin Carswell.
Shannon, 42, told the outlet that she’s going to talk to Alana’s sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, who is her guardian now, about postponing the procedure.
“It kind of bothers me that Pumpkin didn’t tell me,” she said. “If Alana wants to do it, she should wait to sign her own paperwork at 18.”
Although Alana’s manager confirmed to Page Six that she’d be having the surgery, the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” told Entertainment Tonight that she wasn’t 100 percent committed to the plan.
“I just wanna make sure that this is actually something I wanna do before I just go and do it,” Alana explained. “I wanna make sure that it’s, like, not something that’s, like, gonna kill me. And I just wanna make sure it’s something I actually wanna do before I go and do it.”
Despite her reluctance, Alana admitted she knows that the surgery will be the “easiest way” to lose weight.
“I just think I don’t have motivation, and I feel like the surgery would be, like, probably the easiest way to just, like, lose it fast,” she said.
