Enjoy Life Food’s original recall was only for products bearing its brand name, but it recently added Trader Joe’s snickerdoodle cookies to the list of recalled products (via Snack Safely). Anyone who has these products in their homes should immediately dispose of them while holding onto the packaging for a refund from the company.
Similar to other Enjoy Life Foods products, these cookies are branded as being ideal for those with “sensitivities to wheat, milk, eggs, soy, and peanuts,” per What’s Good at Trader Joe’s. The site shares that the snickerdoodles are a tasty treat, that taste homemade, and are safe for gluten-sensitive people and those following a vegan diet to consume.
Eater reports that Trader Joe’s outsources the production of most of its store-branded products. In fact, it apparently works quite hard to keep its sources under wraps. This secrecy has inspired plenty of sleuths like those at HuffPost to sniff out some of the popular grocery chain’s suppliers. Trader Joe’s frequently works with companies that manufacture the same, or similar products which is likely why it chose to work with Enjoy Life Foods to craft an allergy-friendly cookie.
